The Competent Crew course is a five day liveaboard training programme leading to an RYA certificate.
We also run this course over three weekends. Search again for 'Yachting: Competent Crew Weekender' for weekend courses in the Solent and Sydney Harbour.
The course is for beginners and for anyone who would like to become an active crew member rather than just a passenger.
We teach you personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout and assist in all the day to day routines of sailing a small yacht.
You join the boat in Cowes and after meeting your instructor and the rest of the crew you discuss the plan for the week. We don't confirm the itinerary until the weather is known but you can expect to visit several interesting Solent ports, probably spending nights in Cowes, Yarmouth and Lymington.
For more information about Cowes and our yacht fleet, use the Destinations link above left. To book accommodation in Cowes the night before the course starts, use the Contact us link.
Briefing at 10.00 on the start date. Course finishes at 17.00 on the end date
