Sail & Ski, Surf & Snowboard – the great sea and snow combo. This 12 week programme provides the best of both worlds, leading to qualification as a sail, surf or windsurf instructor and as a ski or snowboard instructor.
This is the route to paid work all year round on the beach and in the mountains.
The training is eligible for UK Armed Forces resettlement funding for service leavers.
Choose one of our six week sail and board sports courses: - Dinghy Sail Instructor Basic Traineeship - Surf Instructor Traineeship (Australia only) - Windsurf Instructor Basic Traineeship (not on a September start date)
Combine it with your choice of snow sports course - also six weeks: - Ski Instructor Level 1 & 2 - Snowboard Instructor Level 1 & Freestyle
Start on the mountain as a keen intermediate and progress to CSIA Ski Instructor Level 1 & 2 or CASI Snowboard Instructor Level 1 with specialist freestyle coaching.
The programme is modular and the syllabus progressive. All candidates start with two weeks of ski or snowbard training, in preparation for the Level 1 instructor course in the third week. You will develop good interpersonal skills and learn the specific CSIA/CASI method for teaching beginners.
The programme continues with a further two weeks of skiing or riding and improvement training, leading to the Level 2 Ski Instructor or the snowboard freestyle training in your final week.
Whichever sport you choose, you will see dramatic improvement in your technical knowledge and ability on the slopes. We cover methods of detection and correction and help you to apply these to yourself as the learn the latest techniques.
You now have a three week break - time to travel and explore Canada before heading down to Australia for sail, surf or windsurf instructor training.
Our Surf, Windsurf and Dinghy Sail Basic Traineeships are designed to allow maximum time for personal skills development on the water.
The first two weeks provide intensive foundation training. We teach you how to sail or surf effectively and deliver essential courses in first aid and rescue boat training.
The middle two weeks are the core of the skill-building programme. You sail or surf under the guidance of expert coaches who guarantee to improve your performance on the water.
The final two weeks are devoted to instructor training and assessment. You will develop an imaginative approach to teaching and a good understanding of the theory that underlies it. We make sure you have time to learn and practise the necessary teaching techniques before being examined.
