Whistler Blackcomb

big grins whistlerFlying Fish winter sports training takes place at top Canadian academy, YES Tours, on the slopes of Whistler and Blackcomb in spectacular British Columbia.

With 9.14 metres (nearly 30ft) of average snowfall, nature has provided the perfect environment for all forms of snow sport. For freeriders, Whistler has perfect powder and incredible terrain. There are perfectly groomed pistes for cruising, shredding, ripping or slashing to suit the rider. At Blackcomb, freestylers can charge the double black diamond high-level park, brave some of the largest table-tops and spines, or tackle the World Cup half pipe with its 15 ft walls - that's 4.5 metres. With an array of stylish shops and a great choice of bars, clubs and restaurants,  where better to ski or board?

Off the slopes Whistler and Blackcomb have plenty more to offer. Extremists paraglide from ice-blue glaciers and heli-ski or board over 10,000 vertical feet of powder snow. Lower adrenaline enthusiasts go snow-mobiling, sledging or skating and there are seventeen miles of cross-country trails on the stunning valley floor.

At the end of the day's sport you can kick back and relax. Whistler is a mecca for massage and physiotherapy. Still buzzing? There's rock climbing, racquet sports or a trip to the NHL hockey game (that's ice hockey to you non-North Americans). You won't run out of games to play.

Vancouver is just two hours away on the 'Sea to Sky' highway. With bustling metropolitan core, Vancouver boasts a full programme of arts and entertainment, with fantastic shopping and an overwhelming choice of bars and restaurants. And if you suffer snow withdrawal symptoms, Vancouver has three of its own ski resorts: Grouse Mountain, Cypress Bowl and Mount Seymour. All are within a 30-minute drive of the downtown city centre and all stay open at night.
