It looks like it's going to be another gloriously sunny weekend here in the Solent. What better time to hoist the sails and cruise around the historic harbours and pretty ports that make sailing in the Solent such a pleasure.
If you're a Sydneysider, the thought of another gloriously sunny weekend may not be quite as intoxicating as it is for us Brits, but cruising around Sydney Harbour and up the East Coast of NSW to Coffs Harbour is undoubtedly one of the best sailing experiences to be had.
This practical training programme is a five day liveaboard course leading to the RYA Competent Crew certificate.
We also run this course over three weekends. You don't have to book them all at once but there is a discount on the price if you do.
This course is for beginners and for those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers. We teach you personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout and assist in all the day to day routines of sailing a small yacht.
You join the boat and after meeting your instructor and the rest of the crew you discuss the plan for the week. We don't confirm the itinerary until the weather is known but you can expect to visit several interesting ports.
