The RYA Windsurfing Senior Instructor (SI) qualification is a must for windsurf instructors who are serious about career development. Usually available only in the UK, this course is being offered by Flying Fish in Vassiliki Greece for the first time in September 2009.
The RYA Windsurfing SI is responsible for group control and the supervision of training. The SI course is designed to develop leadership skills, helping you to become a confident manager, capable of organising groups of all ages and directing the work of a team of windsurf instructors.
UK Armed Forces personnel are eligible for resettlement funding and Enhanced Learning Credits for this course.
Flying Fish offers the SI course as a one-week or two-week programme.
The first week is devoted to the formal RYA syllabus, including safety management, leadership, adapting to the training environment, pre-empting problems, objectivity in assessment, briefing and debriefing skills.
The second weekis for personal windsurf development, under the guidance of expert coaches. We tailor the programme to your existing ability, always pushing you to the next level. We guarantee to improve your technique.
The Senior Instructor Upgrade is based at Club Vass at Vassiliki, Lefkas, Greece. Vassiliki is one of Europe's top high-wind resorts for windsurfing. Candidates on the two week programme will enjoy the occasional opportunity to race high performance Hobies, Lasers and RS dinghies next door at Wildwind.
