Flying Fish down under is hotting up

Sunny, 25 degrees, 25 knots nor easter, 2m sea on a 3m swell - typical Sydney summer forecast.

The wind is blowing, the sun is shining and the surf is pumping here in Manly Beach, Sydney.

Fish surf students

Eight Flying Fish Surf students have just passed their Australian Surf Instructor course here in Sydney.  The intensive programme includes three weeks of surf training combined with swim and fitness training in Manly and Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

The group then complete a week of surf lifesaving before embarking on a fantastic surf pilgrimage up the east coast of Australia to Byron Bay where they get to surf, camp, eat, chill and practise their skills in some of the best secret spots in the world.
 
After this it’s back to Manly for the surf instructor course.

20 year old Chris Barnes from Weston-super-Mare reported on a few of his high points of the course so far: 

“Surfing with dolphins at Byron;  learning all the skills of the surf lifesaver from very experienced Australian beach lifeguards; massively improving my fitness and surfing; becoming a surf instructor and being offered a job on the beach in Manly;  surfing with a great bunch of mates from around the world!”

Dinghy Instructor students

The dingo’s have just completed their RYA instructor course and all passed with flying (fish) colours. The Flying Fish sailing area at Middle Harbour Yacht Club is superb for dinghy sailors and the wind has been excellent. Most of the group got to join in the twilight racing on Thursday nights at the club, and some got to sail on some very sexy yachts …

Windsurf students
 
The windsurfing season down under is starting to happen. The first Flying Fish course of the season has just kicked off under the guidance of Flying Fish’s very own windsurf freestyle guru, Steve Hackey.   Steve has just completed the season with Flying Fish in Vassiliki and has arrived in Sydney in time to catch the first big sea breezes of the season.

Sydney to Hobart - last couple of spots
