Maritime Security Officer course

Start your new career as a Maritime Security Officer

With the increase of piracy in shipping, there is growing demand for security personnel and a need within the industry for anti piracy training - for both crews and shipping operators.

Flying Fish has teamed up with Drum Cussac, leading provider of maritime security training, to form an exciting new Maritime Security Officer course.

This hands on course takes two weeks to complete and combines the standard MCA STCW95 Basic Safety Training with SSO (Ships Security Officer) outlined under the ISPS code, and an AP (Anti Piracy) module.

A mixture of practical exercises and theory ensures you gain a good understanding of safety and emergency procedures. You will be familiar with rescue and evacuation, have practised crisis scenarios, handled fire fighting equipment and launched a life raft. You will have a thorough understanding of how to perform as a Ship Security Officer and professional mariner.

Once qualified
you can use the Flying Fish recruitment service to find work as a professional Ship Security Officer worldwide.

The Maritime Security Officer course
is eligible for UK Armed Forces resettlement funding for service leavers.

There are no pre-course requirements so you can join as a beginner, although you will probably get the most out of the course if you have had some military training.
