The coast of New South Wales offers some of the world's best surf breaks. Surf training and lifesaving with Flying Fish takes place at Manly and on surfari up the coast to Byron Bay.
Manly is the first of Sydney's 18 Northen Beaches. It is north-east facing and very protected from the south, so it gets a decent wave all year round - even with the arrival of a southerly storm.
Manly is renowned as one of the best surfing spots in Sydney. With two kilometres of surf to choose from, there is something for everyone, whatever the conditions. South Steyne generally favours beginners, with the bigger swell at North Steyne and Queenscliff for more experienced surfers. For the really daring, the famous Bower break offers some of the best surfing in the region.
