After 17 years as a corporate insurance broker David, 34, decided to leave the city and pursue a new career as a professional sailor.
This is his own story, 18 months after finishing his Flying Fish course:
After much searching I chose to train with Flying Fish for my Yachtmaster qualification. I took their Fast-track course which was truly superb - and not just the training, but the whole experience.
Work is plentiful
I have found that work is plentiful for good professionals, although the hours can be long and often you only get one day off a week. But I certainly have no regrets. After all, this is a lifestyle choice.
I have seen so much of the world in the last 18 months! The money wasn't great at first but you don't have to spend much. Many jobs come with accommodation provided, plus much of your food etc is paid by your customers. Tips can be good, too, if you are good.
Nice job, decent pay!
The Flying Fish recruitment service and support have been excellent. I am now the full time skipper for a private owner on a Lagoon 500 catamaran. Nice job, decent pay! We're cruising Croatia this year.
