18 year old gapper Duncan loved windsurfing and wanted to travel so decided to combine the two by signing up for the Dinghy Sail/Windsurf Instructor Traineeship in Australia.
He had windsurfed a few times before on holiday, but really his starting point was more or less as a beginner.
Duncan had a wide grin on his face as he explained: The first time I got planing on a board has to be up there as one of the best moments on the course. It's such an awesome feeling - a fantastic mix of adrenaline from the speed and sheer fear due to complete lack of control!
After his course he flew back to Europe for work at a small resort in Greece teaching school kids before starting his chemistry degree at Nottingham Uni.
Go for it
Duncan added: I'm so glad I took the course. My advice to anyone is just go for it - you really will have an amazing time. Plus, if you're ever in Greece, do take mosquito repellent!
And Duncan made the most of his long summer holidays from Uni. At the end of his first year he went straight back to Greece to teach windsurfing and dinghy sailing in Poros for the whole of his summer break.
