I was working as an IT consultant but I wanted more out of life than the daily grind of the 9 to 5. It was autumn, and thoughts were turning towards the coming ski season.
I initially thought that I would seek resort work in a chalet or bar, but after musing about becoming an instructor I came across the Flying Fish website. Thinking this sounds interesting, I took a closer look. Not only did the Flying Fish course provide the training I needed, it also covered accommodation, ski pass, and employment opportunities...bonus!
After careful consideration (could I really leave the security of my career?) and lots of helpful advice and support from the Flying Fish team I decided to attend the 11 week instructor program in Whistler, Canada.
Top class resort
After just over two months at a top class resort with amazing instruction, heaps of fun and a lot of hard work, I emerged with a professional qualification, loads of industry contacts, some new friends, and a huge grin.
There were so many different types of people – some like me were starting new careers, others were just taking time out from their normal occupations to have some fun and broaden their experience in other fields. We all achieved something!
