What is a BSUPA Paddleboard Instructor?
Stand Up Paddleboarding is the fastest growing watersport in the world. Its easily accessible and fun for all the family. This means there has been a huge increase in the demand for qualified instructors. Activity holiday companies all over the world are looking for SUP instructors to teach beginners, lead paddle board trips and provide safety cover and advice for their SUP hungry customers.
At Flying Fish we have recognised this and that’s why we have added the BSUPA Instructor qualification to selected courses at our training base in Vassiliki, Greece.
BSUPA stands for British Stand Up Paddle Association they aims to protect and promote the sport of paddle boarding in the UK. They govern the BSUPA Instructor Pathway.
The BSUPA Level 1 Ready to Ride Instructor
This qualification allows watersports instructors to be in charge of up to 6 students and 6 boards at one time. In order to pass students will have a wide range of knowledge on subjects such as site assessment, teaching psychology, weather, tides, rescue techniques and teaching drills as well as a detailed knowledge of SUP equipment. Successful instructors at the end of the course will be able to demonstrate the BSUPA “ready to ride technique” as well as a range of turning and recovery strokes.
What does that mean for Flying Fish Students?
During the Flying Fish instructor training in Vassililki, SUP sessions are scheduled in the morning on the beautiful flat water where we can teach you all the skills and prerequisites needed for the BSUPA Level 1 assessment. Which will take place at the end of your course.
