Pre-requisite experience and qualifications
No experience is needed.
During the day, you will cover a range of topics educating you on different aspects of First Aid:
- First priorities of First Aid.
- Drills and training.
- Calling for help.
- Assessment & immediate action.
- Handling casualties including helicopter rescue.
- Anaphylactic shock.
- Control of bleeding.
- Awareness of CAT drugs.
- Contents of a first aid kit.
- Head injuries.
- Spinal injuries.
- Heart attacks.
- Asthma attacks, diabetic emergencies and epilepsy.
- Sea sickness.
- Electric shock.
You should combine this course with STCW Personal Survival Training, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Proficiency in Security Awareness and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities – or search again for STCW Basic Safety Training which covers all these subjects in a six day course. We recommend that you undertake further first aid training after no more than three years.
