1 week
Sydney, Australia

The RYA Coastal Skipper course provides you with the opportunity to develop your seamanship, boat handling and navigation skills offshore by day and night. It is a stepping stone towards the RYA Yachtmaster Certificates of Competence.

Course programme

Fellow crew members will be professional trainees on one of our extended Yachtmaster programmes so you are guaranteed an effective learning experience with sailors at the same standard.

Sailing offshore by day and night requires not only good sailing and seamanship but the ability to lead your fellow crew safely to your intended destination. Your instructor will guide you through the challenges faced while sailing offshore, allowing you to take control of the yacht under the watchful eye of Flying Fish.

Yachtmaster Coastal exam

You can follow this week with a practical assessment for the RYA Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence. Attending the Yachtmaster Prep Course reduces the sea time requirement for this exam from 800 to 400 miles.

  • Accommodation and meals on the yacht.
  • Safety equipment, tuition and log book.
  • Wet weather gear if you need it.
