Phase 1 : Dinghy Instructor Training
The first four weeks provides intensive foundation training in Dinghy sailing, including on-water coaching, First Aid and Powerboat Level 2 qualifications. You focus on personal skills development, sailing every day under the guidance of our expert coaches. You then move into our two-week preparation and assessment phase to become a top level Sailing Instructor.
Week 1 and 2: Sailing Skills Training
We teach you all the basics on and off the water, from sailing a triangle course, to all the seamanship skills needed for your RYA level 3 qualification in Dinghy sailing. We will introduce you to high wind sailing, sail away trips, video coaching, spinnakers and racing.
Weeks 3 and 4: Sailing Instructor Skills Training
You will start off with personal tuition, working on your current skills and practising new ones, aiming towards the advanced dinghy modules. You will also complete your RYA Powerboat Level 2, plus rescue training to familiarise yourself with techniques used in high wind training centres. Furthermore, you will also complete the RYA First Aid Course. There will be trapezing and more video coaching, sail away trips, racing and high wind blasting on performance dinghies.
Weeks 5 : Instructor Preparation Week
During this week you will be trained about teaching styles, demonstration skills (learn the power of demo), and how to give feedback. Via the use of Pre-Instructor course questionnaires and practice presentations, your theory will be brought up to speed. On the water; close quarter sailing skills, boat handling, rudderless sailing and personal coaching sessions will prepare you to pass the pre-entry assessment. You will also complete your RYA Safe and Fun Course at this stage.

Many of the instructional skills learnt during your Dinghy Instructors Course can also be transferred over to Windsurfing. The course allows maximum time on the water for developing personal skills and at the end of this phase, you will be ready to enter the industry as a dual-qualified instructor!
Weeks 7 and 8: Windsurfing Skills Training
The first two weeks of the Windsurfing Instructor Course will provide you with all of the skills and theory that will take you to RYA Intermediate standard. This will include: upwind and downwind skills, harnessing and beach starting, tacking and gybing as well as sail away trips and video coaching.
Weeks 9 and 10: Windsurfing Skills Development
