This one day course will give all seafarers intending to go to sea a good understanding of the survival equipment onboard. This course is part of the mandatory STCW Basic Safety Training for seafarers and is a requirement under the international STCW convention.
The course will give anybody wishing to sail offshore an understanding of how to evacuate your vessel in an emergency. This course is also accepted by the RYA as a prerequisite for commercial endorsement for Powerboat Level 2, advanced or RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or Ocean Certificates of Competence.
The course is divided into two sections: in the morning you are based in our classroom learning the theory of survival and getting to know the different types of equipment on-board. The afternoon is spent in a swimming pool where we show you how to use a life raft and techniques to help survival at sea.
- Safety equipment, training and certification.
