General data protection regulation

At Flying Fish, we take data protection seriously and we have the technology and security procedures in place to ensure that the data you provide us is stored securely.

 

What do we do with your personal information?

All your personal information is stored in HubSpot our cloud-based database. Flying Fish UK does not store customers’ payment or bank account details. Any payment you make to Flying Fish UK is through a third part payment system, Stripe

Flying Fish use the information provided by you to keep in contact regarding the course or event that has been purchased. If you have signed up to receive marketing material then we will keep you updated with new courses or events that we think you may be interested in, you are able to opt-out at any time.

 

Training partners

Some of the training you receive in the UK are provided by external training partners, namely Fire Safe Training and Bembridge Powerboat Training. Flying Fish shares customer information with our training partners when required. None of the information provided is used for marketing purposes.

 

Flying Fish Australia

We are required to pass on your personal details to our partner company Flying Fish Australia Pty ltd for customers who have purchased a course or event in Australia.

 

RYA interactive training courses booked through Flying Fish UK

In cases where customers complete an RYA training courses then Flying Fish will pass on your details to the RYA for certification purposes.

To enable access to your online course Flying Fish UK will need to share some of your personal data with the RYA via your user profile in www.ryainteractive.org. This learning management website is hosted and maintained by a third party called Learning Pool, who will not use your personal information for any reason other than enabling your course.

Your name and email address will be entered on www.ryainteractive.org in order to create your user account. On your first access to the site, you will be asked to enter your address and date of birth. You will have access to the site for one year in order to complete your online course. During this period, your personal information will be held on the website by Learning Pool and be available to this training centre and the RYA for the purpose of managing your course.

On completion of your course, your name, email, date of birth and address will be transferred to the RYA’s central database for the purpose of recording details of the course and any certification you gain as a result of it. This information allows the RYA to record your certification, to update any records they may already hold about you or your qualifications and to verify your certificate if required. After one year from the date of your enrolment on the course, your user account will be removed from www.ryainteractive.org.

 

MCA accredited courses

If you have completed any STCW Basic Safety Training course, Proficiency in Designated security duties or STCW update training course with Flying Fish then we are required to keep records of certification issued, including your full name and date of birth until your 70th birthday or 5 years from the date of issue of that certificate, whichever is longer. If asked, we can verify when you completed your training and your certificate numbers.

 

Requesting removal of your personal data

If you want your personal data removed from Flying Fish Uk’s database after your course has finished, please email your request to mail@flyingfishonline.com giving your name and email address. Please note that if you request deletion of your account before you have completed your course, records of your progress and any certification issued will be lost and we may be unable to issue replacement certificates
