Why train in Sydney?
Sailing in the sunshine is one of the main reasons customers choose to travel to Australia to complete the Yachtmaster Offshore Course with Flying Fish. Sydney is famous for its warm winds and beautiful clear water, so most of your sailing will be in shorts and t-shirts. Offshore, you explore the beautiful New South Wales coast with all of its stunning harbours and anchorages. We guarantee you will love sailing in Australia.
Our base in Middle Harbour Yacht Club, with its white sandy beach and great atmosphere, is where you start your day whether its skills training in Sydney Harbour or about to set off on an offshore passage. Being part of Flying Fish provides temporary membership to the Yacht Club offering customers the chance to join evening and weekend yacht races. The Aussies love their yacht racing with the most famous race being the Rolex Sydney to Hobart yacht race. Through our contacts, customers will meet local sailors and yacht owners and are invited to join weekend races.
Sydney and the Northern beaches has a lot to offer, Surfing is a national past time and Manly beach, being one of the best surf beaches on the North Shore. Manly is full of bars, restaurants and cafe’s and it’s fair to say that everybody loves the beach and the cosmopolitan lifestyle.
The Yachtmaster Offshore course is divided between live-aboard passages and shore-based day sailing or theory classes. Weekends are usually free so customers have the time to enjoy Sydney, relax on the beach or go yacht racing on the weekends. Flying Fish run weekend RYA Sailing Courses so there is an opportunity to join one of our yachts as the first mate to one of our qualified yacht instructors to build experience.
The course is designed for novice sailors with basic sailing skills however, the course can be tailored to suit individual needs so please contact us to discuss options if you already have some experience.
